Particle board screws, also known as fiberboard screws, are self-tapping screws specially designed for man-made boards such as fiberboard, particleboard and MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). They are widely used in furniture manufacturing and interior decoration.
I. Core Features
• Thread Design: Coarse, deep threads with wide pitch provide exceptional holding power and effectively prevent board cracking.
• Head Style: Mostly cross recessed countersunk head, which sits flush with the surface for a clean appearance and avoids snags.
• Material & Hardness: Made of high-quality carbon steel (C1022A) with heat treatment for high hardness (HRC 45-52). Can be driven directly without pre-drilling in most cases.
• Surface Finish: Mainly color zinc plating and blue-white zinc plating for rust resistance and good appearance.
II. Common Specifications (Diameter × Length, mm)
• Diameter: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0
• Length: 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60
• Popular Sizes: 3.5×16 (for hinges), 4.0×25 (for cabinets), 4.0×40 (for wall panels)
III. Main Applications
• Furniture Manufacturing: Assembly of cabinets, wardrobes and panel furniture
• Home Decoration Installation: Fixing of slides, hinges, handles and wood veneers
• Panel Connection: Bonding of fiberboard, MDF, plywood and solid wood
• Composite Connection: Securing wood boards to thin steel sheets and plastic panels
IV. Advantages vs. Ordinary Wood Screws
• Crack Resistance: Coarse thread design resists splitting of man-made boards
• Holding Strength: Deep threads deliver superior pull-out resistance
• Efficiency: No pre-drilling needed, compatible with electric screwdrivers for fast installation
• Durability: Hardened by quenching, resistant to breakage and corrosion
